DAYTON, OH (NWPR) – Opening Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Dana L Wiley Gallery is an exhibition, “Hard-Edge” by Gary Hinsche that positions itself not as a relic of the modernist past, but as a living framework; one that continues to inspire artists who seek clarity in a world saturated with noise.
The exhibition explores the striking clarity and formal discipline of ‘Hard-Edge’ approach in graphic design, an artistic movement that can be traced back to the Hard-edge painting movement of the 1950s and 60s, a style that rebelled against the gestural brushstrokes of Abstract Expressionism. Defined by sharp contours, flat planes of color, and geometric precision, whereas this art emphasizes control, balance, and visual clarity as a powerful approach to visual communication.
