Writer inks her love to Dad

Tell me a story of a farmer at sunrise;

Starting a busy day of combining beans.

Feeling joy and sadness, anticipation and relief;

Of a completed harvest, a job well done.

Tell me a story about a young man on a warm summer day;

Marrying his sweetheart, starting a new life.

Sharing happy days, holding tight during storms, laughing, crying;

Forming serenity in life, praising Him for completeness.

Tell me a story about a father on a cold blustery day;

Holidays inching, kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids near.

Some quiet, some rambunctious, all healthy and strong;

The perfect blend of likes and dislikes, hopes and fears;

not one that isn’t honest and true.

Tell me a story about a friend facing storms;

Unexpected changes, turmoil and loss, unsure of what to do, or how.

But lending an open ear, a helping hand, or a morsel of food;

Knowing God created us equal but not all situations alike.

Tell me a story about a man at sunset;

Wondering if he’s said enough, done enough, been worthy enough.

There are still beans to sow, family to watch, friends to help;

But seeds have been sown, the harvest is in and God speaks boldly,

“Come to me son, a job well done.”
