The ‘Hills’ to ring with the sound of music

The Rushmore Music Festival’s opening concert is entitled “Songs, Dances, and Jokes” which will have goers groovin’, laughin’ and cryin’ with music by Antonin Dvořák, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber, Cole Porter, and others in Meier Hall at Black Hills State University’ in Spearfish, South Dakota on Friday, June 24 at 7:30 pm. The concert continues on Sunday, June 26 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Rapid City and closes on Sunday, June 26 at 7:00 pm at the Historic Homestake Opera House in Lead.

 Rushmore2015musicfestival    “A Romantic World’s Fair” will stir goers’ imagination with a voyage of music and poetry from the Romantic age through lands near and far. Artists of the Rushmore Music Festival will join with guest artists Christopher Hahn, Maya Anjali Buchanan, Jon Nero, and Mila Belakova in Meier Hall at Black Hills State University in Spearfish on Wednesday, June 29 at 7:30 pm.

The festival’s ends with “The Greats: Known and Unknown with performances of two chamber music masterworks: Tchaikovsky’s monumental Piano Trio in A minor and the lesser-known String Quartet No. 1 in D minor by Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga.  The first performance is in Meier Hall on Friday, July 1 at 7:30 pm, and the second is Saturday, July 2 at 7:00 pm, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City.
