BRIEF ABOUT: A collection of works from the museum’s permanent collection, “Hollers and Harvests” highlights the relationship between folk artists and their frequent ties to farming and agriculture. Curated by Cecilia Adwell, “The works in this show illustrate how agriculture informs every facet of Kentucky life, including cultural production.” Adwell is in the Masters of Arts in Curatorial Practice California College of the Arts in San Francisco. She is passionate about preserving historical folk traditions within the United States while keeping aware of the larger, international fine arts world.
“Swimming Hole” is an installation created by identical twins, Matthew and Mitchell Bradley, who are graduates of Murray State University’s Fine Art program. They were inspired by the large number of children that pass through the educational space at KMAC and decided to create a colorful and fun installation for the kid in all of us. By transforming some familiar seasonal objects into a large scale interactive wall sculpture, the twins will bring the summer fun of the swimming pool indoors.
