Artistic talents shows kinship roots

The Honorable Peter and Martha Two Bulls, Sr.

 

On display until March 9, 2019 in the Sen. Stan Adelstein & Lynda K. Clark Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, “Tatánka Nunpa Owe Okele, a Two Bulls” family exhibit, features the artwork and music by 18 members of the Two Bulls family. Artwork ranges from painting, cartoons, graphic design and illustration, ceramic and plaster sculpture, printmaking, mixed-media work, leather work, dolls, bead work and other forms of jewelry.

Tatánka Nunpa Owe Okele loosely translates as “Following the Two Bulls Tracks.” Family and kinship ties are very important to the Oglala Lakota people. The Two Bulls are an Oglala Lakota family of artists and musicians originating from the Red Shirt Table community on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
