Winter wonders blooming with creativity

INDIANPOLIS, IN – (NWPR) – On view through Sunday, February 5, 2023, “Snow Days is an exhibition features works from the permanent collection of the Eiteljorg Museum that highlight winter and snowy environments.

With objects ranging from delicate carved ivory miniatures of sled dogs to snowy Western landscapes to exquisitely beaded mittens designed to protect the wearer from the cold, the Snow Days highlights works that embrace the beauty of the season and the ingenuity it takes to survive it.

For many people, including artists, winter means more time spent inside to work on their art such as, preparing furs into gloves and mukluks before beading floral patterns onto them. These essential items keep the wearer warm as well as fashionable in frigid sub-Arctic and Arctic conditions. The winter-wear on display are beautifully embellished, showcasing the skill and creativity of their artists.
