Aside from the forthcoming art auction and last time this local Billings’ artworks have been on view was in 1993, this time it comes from YAM’s permanent collection holdings, currently the exhibit, “Edith Freeman’s Montana Seasons” presents the region’s natural beauties as depicted in the Freeman chosen signature flora subject matters, bouncing with bountiful colors, but works that portray a quiet grandeur. Her love of the seasons, including those unseen views of the landscape bypassed by most; Freeman puts them center stage in her works.

Given claim as one of the “grand dames” of the Montana art scene, Edith lived all her life in Montana from 1913-1992, not only as a painter, but also a teacher and rancher, including accreditation as one of the best in woodblock printmaking.
