Music was the glue in a chaotic era

GRANT PASS, OR (PNAN) –  On Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the Applegate Library, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, “What it Was: Growing Up When the Music Mattered” was a time when the classic era of rock and roll music was a time of incredible creativity in the arts and in artful ways of living.

In this Rogue Reads program, revisit those times with a writer James Pagliasotti, who was the first rock and roll columnist for the Denver Post, where he covered music and counterculture from 1968-1974. In addition, he has written for Rolling Stone magazine and numerous other publications, and is the author of three books.

It was a tumultuous time, too, when struggles over civil rights, the Vietnam War, political assassinations, and gender equity sometimes made it seem the world was coming apart. The music helped us get through it. It gave us a voice, an anthem, a gathering place where we shared our dreams and our fears.
