(NWPR) – “When the Indiana Arts Commission realigned its grants distribution system earlier this year, it did so with the express goal of reaching as many arts organizations, particularly smaller and mid-sized ones, with our available grants funding. We also made changes to help put as much of our available resources into the granting pool, so we could increase the size of average operating support grant awards for the upcoming year,” said IAC Director Lewis C. Ricci. “The arts, and the organizations that present them, are significant contributors to our state’s economy and these grants represent the public’s investment in preserving our cultural resources.”
The Commission approved 295 grant allocations for 2011 fiscal year totaling just over $2.84 million in state and federal funding for grants and programs for arts organizations and cultural providers throughout the state. The bulk of the approved grants awards, totaling nearly $1.8 million are distributed through the IAC’s 12 regions to small and mid-sized organizations.
In the Northwest Passage Record coverage area, the grants for Region 3 that serves Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Miami, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley counties with Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne as the Regional Arts Partner are: NOTE: This represents a re-granting of $173,726 in this Regional Block Grant, not including Regular Block Administration Fee $13,029 and Regional Partner Operating Support $10,291.
