Ecstasy For Everyone: A Theatrical Celebration of the Poetry & Art of James Broughton
BRIEF ABOUT: Performance artist Jason Jenn brings to vivid life on stage the mercurial wit, wonder, whimsy and wild words of James Broughton’s poetry. Jenn says, “I became entranced by James’ poetry and knew that I had to bring an hour long performance of his words to life on stage somehow.”
Broughton was an award-winning poet and poetic filmmaker as well as a notable of the San Francisco Renaissance, Radical Faeries and Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. His work speaks to with a ‘trickster’ enchantment, both devoutly spiritual and sexually liberated in ways relevant in now modern times.
The most recent documentary, “Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton” (http://bigjoy.org/twirl/james-creations/poetry) illuminates his unique and extraordinary life and this Jenn theatrical production joins in the events surrounding the centennial commemoration year of his Broughton’s birth.
