A ‘Force of Nature’ hits Hollywood

The Hollywood Arts Council is welcoming Ian Ross in the Project LA Gallery in Hollywood, California.

On Thursday, February 28, Sarah Gough will host an event with artist Ross, who will give a lecture about his artistry, including Nyla Arslanian, President of the Hollywood Arts Council will discuss why Hollywood has been picked as one of the Top 12 Arts Destinations in the nation. All takes place from 6:00-8:00 pm at Gough’s Project LA Gallery at 1553 Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood. RSVP at 323.462.1100.

Ross-King of Beast    In my review, I have found that artist Ross’s works seem to have an organic and primal pulse. From his delft strokes of arabesques to the King of the Beast, one can sense how attuned Ross is to nature and the building blocks of DNA.

He captures the essence of life in and as it comes from the sea. He even used a surfboard as one of his canvas that has become one with the sea. It seems to have a life of its own as “floats” off the wall.Ross-Goddness

Ross’s germinal works almost have minimalistic lines in soft pastels. This is direct contrast to the powerful forms created with vivid colors to express the Evolution.

I see it summed up in his largest and most powerful painting the face of a Goddess. I looked at her and she looked through me.

If you miss the February 28 special evening, I encourage you to see this exhibition that will run through March 16, 2013. Also, to learn more about Ian, see: www.ianrossgallery.com as well as www.projectla.net.
