Birds and Landscapes

BRIEF ABOUT: An exhibition in the Atrium Gallery featuring the paintings of Eric Cornett, who was inspired by the natural scenery as seen from his car. Drawn to the variety of color during the changing seasons of spring and autumn as well as morning and evening light, Cornett renders his realistic paintings with a hint of impressionism and pays particular attention to composition, negative space, and the right color balance with a simplified color palette.

ericBorn in Alabama, Eric Cornett moved to Philadelphia and eventually landed in Minnesota where he grew up and graduated from Eden Prairie High School. He later went on to attend the (former) College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. Cornett has been painting professionally since 1993 when he began his career as a freelance illustrator. For the past 16 years he has owned his own painting business, Faux Pas, focusing on interior faux and decorative painting finishes as well as large-scale murals and commissioned paintings. More:
