Teacher to ‘recite’ the strums

(AAPNW-IN) – Phil Schurger will present a guitar recital at 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 14 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts on the Indiana Huntington University campus. The concert, consists of highly dynamic works in the jazz and modern chamber music style. He also studied with virtuoso Fareed Haque and work with accomplished musicians, such as Ravi Coltrane, Tom Rainey and Ralph Alessi at the School of Improvisational Music in New York.

In 2007, the Phil Schurger Group, which draws strong influences from the jazz tradition, released two albums, “Motion” and “The Black Hat.” The recital is free and open to the public.
