Symphony releases scores

     (NWPR) – Recorded live during their 2008-09 season, the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra has released a new compact disc recording of two 20th century works: William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 (“Afro-American”) and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 6.

     The performance of William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 includes the recitation of poems by Paul Laurence Dunbar and Dr. Herbert Woodward Martin of the University of Dayton. Each of the Symphony’s four movements is prefaced by a Dunbar poem.

     The new CD is available for sale at the Dayton Philharmonic office on the 2nd floor of Performance Place, 109 N. Main Street in Dayton, Ohio, or at any Classical concert. In addition, the full CD, including individual tracks will also be available for download  at:
